The History of Moore Elderly Care

Judy is a graduate from Plainview High School in Minnesota.  She attended Minnesota Bible College, and RCTC working towards an Associates degree in Liberal Arts.  She received her degree in Nursing from St. Mary's school of practical nursing at St. Mary's Hospital which is now affilliated with the Mayo Clinic.  Judy worked at St. Mary's Hospital for 12 years as an LPN on a neurological/surgical floor caring for brain injured, stroke, tumors, annuerisms, seizures, etc.  Judy also has experience in psychiatric care where she received a psychiatric technician certificate from the Rochester State Hospital where she worked on a surgical floor caring for a variety of medial, surgical, and psychologically impaired patients.

Judy got her start in Adult Foster Care by caring for her mother Edith in her home. Edith had a stroke and became totally dependant on others for her care. Judy cared for her mother for 4 years while continuing her education in nursing. When her mother passed away, she felt a void in her life as she went to work for Taren Coghill taking care of her brain injured husband, Dick. An employee working for Taren suggested becoming an Adult Foster Care Provider. Judy looked into the option and decided that doing Adult Foster Care would work for her.  Then the journey of Foster Care began.

Judy has done a full circle in life. When she was 15 years old, she worked for her Aunt Daisy at her Manchester Nursing Home in Winona, MN which was very simular to what we call Adult Foster Care. After all the years of other employment, she has found herself doing the same thing she did when she was 15.

Judy has two daughters and one granddaughter so her Adult Foster Care Home is a family affair.

Sara worked with Judy at Moore Elderly Care for 5 years before opening her own adult foster care home right across the street. She has an associates degree in science as a Human Services Specialist. She currently lives at her Adult Foster Care Home "Rysellas" and has 3 ladies she cares for.

Susan works for Judy full time as well, but also works a part time job as a Disk Jockey on Rochester's Y105 radio station. Susan's daughter Anna enjoys entertaining the Resident's with activities and helping out however she can.

Letters received by family members of residents we have had....

Dear Judy,

I know the thoughts of your mom that must run through your head today. Know that I am thinking of you. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being there for my mom and I, in our greatest hours of need.

You are truely an angel. Thank you for welcoming us into your heart and home. May this mothers day bring you much peace of heart and love.

Sincerely, Shelly

Dear Judy,

I know it was very difficult for you to watch the rapid decline of Margaret. It was beautiful to see the love you portrayed for her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Respectfully, Carol

Dear Judy,

Just a quick note to say thank you for all that you did for my nana and my whole family over the past few weeks. I sincerely appreciate that nana was so lucky to be under such wonderful, loving care for the last few weeks of her life. I know that all of my family was so thankful that it worked out for nana to be with you. Thank you also for your hospitality to all the other family members. I truely look forward to meeting you this summer when I make the trip north.

With Sincere Appreciation,

Joy

Judy,

Thank you for the beautiful message and CD's. My mother had many happy moments living at your home. You took such good care of her. It gave me such peace of mind knowing that she was there. You are a wonderful, caring person. I feel very fortunate for having met you and your family.

Love, Karen

Dear Judy,

I dont have enough words to express my thanks for all you have done for my grandma & my family. Your love & care gave me peace of mind knowing that Audraie was well cared for, safe, and most of all-happy. Your hospitality & care have been endless. Thank you for making the last 2 1/2 years of grandmas life the very best they could be.

Love, Maureen

Judy,

No words can express my sincere appreciation for all you have done for my mother over these last years. You provided the every day care and love that she deserved.

You were the last person to hold her hand and tell her she was loved before God took her home. You truely are one of his angels on earth.

May he bless you as you have blessed the lives of so many,

With Sincerity and Gratitude,

Barb

Judy and Sara became members of the Rochester Chamber of Commerce last year. The Chamber of Commerce came out to Moore Elderly Care to help celebrate a milestone for one of our Residents, Ida, who had her hundreth birthday. She cut a ribbon to mark the milestone and cut 10 balloons loose. Each balloon symbolized 10 years of her life. The smile we saw on her face that day was irreplaceable.
